When teachers ask questions, there are many things to consider. When we ask questions for formative or summative assessment, we need to be even more careful to make sure we are asking exactly what we believe we are asking.

Now that students are able to complete assignments online, and look up answers with the click of a button, pushing questions beyond mere find-and-report is more important than ever. As you saw in the World War II exercise, we provided a structured set of documents and a specific question relating to those documents. The question was a higher level question, and could not be Googled due to the constraints of the SCIM-C model; students were asked to base their answers on the documents provided.

Using the Image from the Blooms Digital Taxonomy, determine the level of Bloom's taxonomy the question from the Immersion activity addresses. Remember the question was:

  • What evidence can you find, and what were some of the the social and economic changes that took place during and after World War II, as demonstrated via SCIM-C in the supplied documents?

Questioning activity:

Using a Google doc, write 2 questions at each of the levels of blooms digital taxonomy. Make sure you address your content area specifically.
